And now for something completely different. Some people may associate my work with dark and moody. I love dark and moody portraits and food, but I shoot a lot of different styles. So when my client for the Culinary Boots Camps showed me an example of a high-key photo they liked I was like “AWESOME!” My real challenge with this shoot was lighting this huge space and that ended up being no problem.
I had been off all week sick as a dog with a relentless head cold but showed up to the shoot trying my best to fake it. I love the creative process so much and when I get to a shoot I am so in the zone everything else just seems to fade away so it was all good.
The Culinary Boot Camps is a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere and participants have a lot of fun, so there was no shortage of ideas for the photos. The Camps offer a multitude of different culinary camps with something for everyone.
I had so much fun with these subjects. They were not professional models and yet you would think they were. These people were so great in front of the camera I was amazed. They were very animated and we all had a lot of fun. Thanks to the great crew at the Culinary Institute of Canada for all of their help.
