Like so many people, I have always loved the Dairy Farmers of Canada‘s Milk Calendar. The photography is always inspiring. So I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to work on the 2017 Milk Calendar. My photos appear on two interior spreads and feature one of PEI’s wonderful dairy farming families. What a great project to get to work on. The story that unfolded while taking these photos is how much our farmers care about their animals. These animals are very well cared for with their health and happiness paramount to the operation and success of the farm. These beautiful animals were friendly and curious, always coming up to see us, and running around my tripod in the field wondering what it was, which was pretty hilarious.
I remember years ago a couple of not so nice people had an open conversation on Facebook insulting my photography. A third person commented a few times going back and forth defending my work, to which they responded, “yeah, if you want a picture of a cow”. At the time I was pretty hurt that people would be so nasty and do it right there for all to see, including me. But I have to say, that all these years later when I was hired by a top ad agency in Toronto and found myself shooting a national brand for the Dairy Farmers of Canada, I was laughing inside the whole time thinking about that nasty comment. So yup, I guess they were right, and you know what? I sure do love shooting them cows.
Absolutely love your work and how you present your topics. With each image I sense a great amount of thoughtfulness followed through by a truly natural feel, and an obvious skill in your craft.
Gorgeous !!
Thank you Deborah. Much appreciated. :)
