You know those couples who are really super people, are truly best friends and have the best time together? That’s Kelly and Scott.
Twenty-one years ago I photographed the birth of this beautiful bride. I got the call, jumped in my car in Montreal and drove to Ottawa to be in the delivery room with my best friend, my sister Christine, and my wonderful brother-in-law Paul. It was one of the most incredible days of my life. I have spent the last 21 years sporadically joking with my niece Kelly Elizabeth and saying, “Kelly? Did you know that I was the first person to ever see you?” But joking aside, it was an incredible honour to be present when this beautiful human being began her journey into this world.
I was really happy when Kelly asked me to photograph her wedding. It is always a huge honour to photograph weddings, but this was extra special to me because it was family.
The wedding was breathtaking, on top of a mountain at a beautiful venue called Le Belvedere in Wakefield, Quebec. Kelly and Scott had a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Even though the weather was overcast and rained a little, it didn’t make a bit of difference. Everything was absolutely wonderful. And what a party! It’s always so great being with family, and I want to say a big thank you to Simon for being such a great assistant. Thanks, Mate!
