Life’s Shots

sarah

I do a lot of personal work. I guess because photography isn’t just what I do, it’s who I am. I see in photographs, I can’t just turn it on and off. Personal work gives me freedom to have fun and feed my creativity. Seeing in photos and not being able to take them because I’m busy doing something else, like getting teenage daughters off to school in the morning, literally gives me anxiety. Because the best shots are the every day shots. Life’s shots. And I hate missing them.

This is what I see every morning. After the morning chaos, I sit for a few moments next to this incredible teenager and think… photo. I’ll admit, my compulsion to take photos drives my family crazy, but I can’t help myself. So yesterday while heating up the truck I ran back in the house and got my camera. Because the best shots are the everyday shots, and one day these routine moments will only be memories that I wish I could get back.

WE ARE ALL TREATY PEOPLE.

In the spirit of Reconciliation, we acknowledge that the land upon which we gather is unceded Mi’kmaq territory. Epekwitk (Prince Edward Island), Mi’kma’ki, is covered by the historic Treaties of Peace and Friendship. We pay our respects to the Indigenous Mi’kmaq People who have occupied this Island for over 12,000 years; past, present and future.
