Marathon Girl

So how do I feel after running a marathon? Happy. I feel incredibly happy inside. My face hurts more from smiling than my legs do from running.

We ran a negative split and ran strong the entire way. I danced with the ladies at the water stations. I shouted out to friends along the way. I hugged Michael Gaudet at water station #5. Blew kisses to my husband and daughters. We sang camp songs on the trail. I hooted and hollered when I saw my co-workers cheering me on. I high-fived everybody. I jumped across the finish line. I had a smile on my face the whole way. I loved every step. The fact is, to explain what running a marathon feels like in words would be an understatement. You just have to run one to experience it. I can’t wait to run another one.

So in the end running is still about so much more than running. For me, training for this marathon was about friendship and mental strength. Some people think we’re crazy to run, but I think after all the laughter, friendship and joy, you’re simply crazy if you don’t.

Heather, you should be so proud of yourself! You’re now a marathoner! Congratulations! And you can include yourself in the only 1% of the population that have ever run a marathon!
Oh, did I hear you just confess that you’ll be running another one? lol

Take care and rest up…you deserve it…you marathon girl :-)
