Reflexology, Reiki, Indian Head Massage
Normally, photo shoots take a bit of coordinating. Organizing models, schedules, venue availability, if it’s a bigger shoot sometimes it involves flying people in, talking with the venue’s unionized maintenance and technical team, if it’s outdoors the weather is always a big consideration… you get the picture. So I had a last minute opening and contacted my dear friend, reflexologist Deborah Walsh on Friday afternoon to see if she wanted to try and do her shoot the very next day. I know it’s a bit crazy but maybe we could just do the portraits and then do the service shots with models another day? Within minutes, she had confirmation from her two models. Minutes! Now I know these models well. They are both busy women, career women, with families and kids, and running schedules. I thought it was hilarious. Usually it’s a big job to get things organized, unless I guess you’re a reflexologist… then people will drop everything for you. Makes sense, but still cracked me up. Hmm… maybe if I include reflexology at my shoots I would have an easier time organizing people. Worth considering.
I met Deb, and models Karen and Dana through running, and running buddies are like your tribe. We have an innate connection. Deb is a special kind of awesome. She’s so much fun, her happy is contagious, and most of all she is deeply caring. Because of her I know first hand (or should that be foot?) how reflexology and reiki can transform a person’s health and well-being. I am happy to get to help her market her new business with some professional photography. It’s a great place to start.

“In Reflexology, all parts, glands and organs of the body are represented as reflexes on an anatomical body map on the feet. The term reflex means automatic response to a stimulus, therefore foot reflexology is defined as the study and practice of automatic body responses to finger pressure on specific areas of the feet. Those areas correspond to all body parts to help the body attain or maintain its ideal balance. It is usually incredibly relaxing, many of my clients have a feeling of euphoria and lightness after.”
“Reiki is a hands on energy balancing technique that originated in Japan. During the treatment energy or Chi is drawn to you through the practitioners hands helping to release blockages and enhance well being. It increases relaxation, reduces stress and can speed up healing.”
“Indian Head Massage combines energy based pressure point techniques with Massage strokes. It has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. It targets head, upper back, shoulders, arms and hands, neck, face and scalp. It gives whole body relaxation, relief of muscle tension and increase in circulation, lymph drainage and toxin release.”
